I’m Coach Char ☺ I am 26 years old and from Pensacola, FL. I just recently moved to the Puget Sound Region with my fiancé who is in the Navy and stationed at NAS Whidbey Island. Starting at a very young age, my volleyball history is quite extensive. Both my parents played volleyball in their young adult lives. Before my mom met my dad, she played club volleyball professionally in Germany and then taught my dad how to play. Being in the Air Force, my dad brought both my parents on base wherever we lived to continue playing volleyball--practicing and playing in tournaments. Naturally I would tag along with them. Between the ages of 7 - 13 I learned my basic fundamentals from my parents. When my parents moved back to Germany I joined the Varsity Volleyball team my freshman year at Ramstein High School on base. There I received Most Valuable Player, and in my senior year I received Athlete of the Year. In my off-season I would play for Steinwenden Volleyball Club (SVC), a German Women’s Club, until I graduated High School. I received a DII Volleyball Scholarship attending the University of Mount Olive, formerly Mount Olive College. There I started and played 4 years as a Setter/DS/L, broke a record for kill assists in a 3 set match and was first in the conference for service aces my sophomore year. I graduated in 2014 with a B.S. in Recreational Therapy. During college I would help my mom with beach lessons and tournaments for middle school children at Davidson Middle School in Crestview, FL. After college, I started a day job in the activities department of a nursing home while Head Coaching and assisting for the Pensacola Waves and Panhandle Elite Volleyball Club. My goal for this beach season is to share my love for volleyball, have fun, develop basic fundamental skills and prepare young athletes for transition into indoor.
