Emily Anderson, Junior Assistant Coach U14 Team - BRVBA

This will be my first year as a junior coach. I played volleyball for 8 years: club volleyball for 5 and 2 years on varsity at Marysville Getchell High School as a right side and middle hitter. Sadly, my volleyball career came to an end 2 years ago due to concussions.

Volleyball gave me an escape from whatever was going on in my life. What I truly want is to give what I had to these wonderful girls that I coach. I strongly believe that a large portion of this sport is mental. There are so many physical things you can do to better yourself as a player, but without having the psychological side of your game figured out, there is only so much you can do to improve. I strive to coach from a positive direction to help these players achieve to the very best of their ability.

I also advocate for head safety because it is the very thing that ended the happiest times of my life as a volleyball player. I believe that there are many little things we can do to keep our players safe, not just in reference to concussions but also many other common injuries from this sport.
